Of all the services we provide at NPP, the delivery of non-surgical laser therapy and cosmetic gum recontouring may be the most rewarding for our patients. If we can establish health without the need for surgical intervention, the cosmetic and emotional rewards are obvious. And if you have ever thought your teeth were too short or gum tissue too thick – think again! Creating the lovely, toothy smile you always dreamed of is a painless, brief surgery performed here and the results are immediate.
We offer our patients a variety of cosmetic periodontal procedures to enhance the appearance of the teeth and smile.
Aesthetic Crown Lengthening to Correct a “Gummy” Smile New
One of the most common aesthetic procedures is anterior crown lengthening to improve a “gummy” smile. This procedure involves reshaping the gum and bone tissue to expose more of the natural tooth; or lengthen it. The procedure can be performed for a single tooth to even or level of the gumline or for several teeth in a row, to improve the appearance of the entire smile. Aesthetic crown lengthening can be performed painlessly and quickly to provide you with the aesthetic smile you deserve.
GUM RECONTOURING TO CORRECT A “GUMMY” SMILE
SOFT TISSUE GRAFTS TO COVER EXPOSED TOOTH ROOTS:
Although gum recession can be caused by a variety of factors, the most common cause is aggressive tooth brushing. Gum recession results and exposed tooth roots which causes the tooth to appear too long compared to adjacent teeth. Soft tissue grafting procedures involve adding soft tissue to reinforce the gums or repair the defect caused by gum recession. Covering the roots that make the teeth look too long will improve the aesthetic appearance of the smile. This procedure will also help prevent additional recession and bone loss, solve the problem of root sensitivity to extreme hot and cold temperatures, and protect the tooth roots from decay.
